Juventus has extended the contract of two veteran players of the club, Giorgio Chiellini and Gianluigi Buffon. The club has confirmed that both the players have agreed to the extension of one year. The new signing stands till June 2021 and by then Buffon will be 43 and Chiellini will be close to 37. The club said that the contract extension is a reward and gratitude for the long term loyalty and quality of the players to them.
“Gianluigi Buffon. Giorgio Chiellini. Captains, legends.Bianconeri since the beginning.Bianconeri forever. And to confirm it, in case there is a need, today their contract renewals have become official, for another: 2021!” said the statement on the official website of Juventus.
The Italian has spent the 2018–2019 in PSG and his former teammate Kylian Mbappe has said about the influence of the veteran on him and also his disappointment when Buffon returned to Juventus saying he was very important to him. He has spent two spells in the club and has played 696 games for the club, the first spell which lasted from 2001 to 2018.
Meanwhile, Chiellini was sidelined in the current season due to ligament injuryand he has not appeared in any games till February.He hasn’t played in any of the matches after the tournament was resumed from three months of inactivity. He has been part of Juventus from 2005 when he was transferred from Roma. He has made 500 appearances for the club and has scored 36 goals and along with the club, he has won eight Serie A titles.
