Massimiliano Allegri reveals Paul Pogba’s return date

Juventus manager Massimiliano Allegri has confirmed that Paul Pogba has been struggling with an injury that has prevented him from making a second debut for the team. After coming back from Manchester United as a free agent in the summer, Pogba is yet to make his second debut for the team. The availability of the French midfielder will be a huge boost for Juventus in the pursuit of the league title. Juventus are still seven points behind table leaders Napoli after 16 matches. Now, Allegri has confirmed that a training injury has been a significant factor behind Pogba not featuring in the squad so far.

The 29-year-old came back to training a few weeks ago and he was thought to be set for return earlier than scheduled. Now, Allegri has revealed that the club are taking it slow and the midfielder has been training without any signs of pain for the first time after a while. It means thatPogba could be available in the squad within the next few weeks. Allegri is hopeful that the player will be in contention when the team are scheduled to play Monza towards the end of August.Pogba is all set to team up with his international teammate Adrian Rabiot, who is in discussions with Juventus over a contract extension.

Paul is running and he doesn’t feel pain in his knee. If he proceeds like this, maybe within 15/20 days he can be with the team. But we’ll see later when he can return, step by step. It’s useless to talk about the transfer market right now, we have to think about the pitch. Rabiot has desire and enthusiasm. We’re all focused on that,” said Allegri. Juventus were able to reduce the deficit during the weekend after they picked up a win over Cremonese while Napoli lost to Inter Milan.
